Cyberpass Wins Airmalta Aviation Services Tender

Cyberpass has been chosen by Airmalta Aviation Services Ltd (AASL) as its preferred partner to implement CyberTrak on its large fleet of vehicles. These are used for offering a vast range of ground handling services to Air Malta as well as several prestigious airlines such as Alitalia, British Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Air France. CyberTrak will support the management team to better manage and utilise the vehicles and their personnel.

All the vehicles in the fleet have been fitted with a GPS tracking device with functions such as driver identification and immobilisation. This ensures that no unauthorised personnel can start a vehicle without first identifying themselves by means of an RFID sensor installed in each vehicle. Data from this function is stored on the cloud and reports can be extracted whenever needed along with all the other added benefits of using CyberTrak. Every driver is given an RFID chip programmed in their name and permissions are set as to which vehicle(s) can be driven. In case of an emergency where the vehicle needs to be started without authorisation, a bypass key, held by management is available.

Dashcams have also been deployed on certain vehicles in case of any incidents.

AASL was set up in 2018 with the scope of offering ground handling services at Malta International Airport. Although the company per se is relatively new, it has over 40 years’ experience in this sector. Having previously operated as the Ground Handling Department of Air Malta plc, it was hived off with the objective of making ground handling its main focus.
